CRYSTAL A. RUSSELL

Ms. Russell received her B.A. degree, summa cum laude,  in 1970 from Arizona State University located in Tempe, Arizona.  She graduated in 1973 from the Arizona State University College of Law, cum laude.  She was admitted to practice law in Arizona (1973); in California (1978) and Texas (1991).  After graduation, she joined the small prestigious firm of Browder & Gillenwater, P.C. where she did insurance defense litigation.  In 1975, she went to work in-house for Anchor National Life Insurance Company where she advised the life sales team, wrote policies, assured compliance under federal and state securities laws and handled corporate governance.  She relocated to Los Angeles, California, where she served as general counsel for Ameron, Inc., a multinational corporation manufacturing large diameter pipes.  As the only in-house lawyer, Ms. Russell assumed a wide variety of legal responsibilities including litigation supervision, intellectual property protection and licensing, mergers and acquisitions, and regulatory matters. Since Ameron was a publicly traded company listed on the New York Stock Exchange, Ms. Russell oversaw the company's compliance with securities laws.  In 1981, Ms. Russell joined Vidal Sassoon, Inc. as its vice president and general counsel where she managed the in-house legal department, prepared its budget, provided legal services to the business divisions, wrote contracts, handled various mergers and acquisitions of the company's various lines of business, and was ultimately responsible for the company's legal affairs throughout the world.  There, Ms. Russell perfected intellectual property rights, handled negotiations and prepared contracts, arranged for manufacturing and distribution contracts, reviewed advertising copy for network clearances, and advised with respect to the business operations and FDA compliance issues.  Vidal Sassoon was acquired in 1986 by Richardson Vicks, Inc., and ultimately, Richardson Vicks was acquired by Procter & Gamble, Inc.  In 1986, Ms. Russell formed her own business law firm in Century City, California.  In 1997, Ms. Russell relocated back to the Phoenix area.  Currently, she acts in the role as outside general counsel for a number of companies in the cosmetic, marketing,  merchandising, distribution, pet and manufacturing industries. She maintains an active California practice as well as an Arizona practice.

She is a past president of the Corporate Counsel Section of the California Bar Association.  She is an active member of the Maricopa County Bar Association; the Arizona Bar Association; the California Bar Association and the Texas Bar Association.  She serves on the Board of Directors for the Mesa Downtown Association.  She is the author of the book "How To Sell Your Home Yourself and Save Thousands".
